> Describe the video. Watch it get drafted. Render when it's right.
A local video studio for Mac and Windows. Describe a video in one sentence, watch a free draft take shape in the Editor, then render a voiced, scored and mastered MP4 on your own machine in one of thirty looks. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other coding agents can drive it over MCP, and every file lands in a folder on your disk.

## Capabilities
- An MCP server so Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, VS Code or Claude Desktop can create videos, drive the approval gates and collect the files
- Per-connection tokens with three presets, a scope, an expiry and one-click revoke
- Director runs: brief a video in one of nine formats and your coding CLI directs it while the app voices, renders, mixes and masters
- An Editor every production opens in: a timeline with Shots, Text, Voice, Music and SFX tracks, a shot inspector that prices each render, and a cut that saves itself after every edit
- Preview first: a free draft of the film in text cards or slates with a scratch voice, so you shape the cut before any render costs money
- One check before anything spends: the full render sheet lists the shots, length, cost and expected time
- Nine formats: product demo, explainer, social ad, brand film, trailer, music video, training, documentary and from a script
- Script and final-cut approval gates, with notes when you send one back, or a run straight through
- Three picture routes: fourteen motion-graphics templates, Blender 3D and the Ink 2D engine
- A fully rigged 3D panda that performs named moves with planted feet, blinks and lip-sync
- Import a Fountain screenplay and break it into acts, scenes and directed shots before generating anything
- Reusable characters, products, objects, locations, styles and voices with reference sets
- A cast and locations the agent designs for each film, checked on model sheets and locked at the Look gate so every scene draws the same characters
- Shot-level direction: camera, composition, action, dialogue, duration, start and end frames
- An Action editor that blocks a shot on a timeline: staging, moves, expressions, gaze, dialogue with lip-sync, camera and lighting, with proposed edits you review before they apply
- Reusable 2D characters built from swappable parts, previewed and saved into the shared library with their palette variants
- Import design bundles and pick which 2D or 3D representation a film uses, with each production pinning its own asset revision
- Mention library assets with @ while writing the brief, and the referenced media travels with the production
- Every generation preserved as a take; one becomes active without destroying the alternatives
- Generation through your own Gemini, Runway or fal keys, with an estimate before every paid call
- Sound Studio: 65 procedural sound-effect recipes with macro sliders, seeds, A/B and WAV export
- Thirty look-specific sound palettes, each role with four auditions, ranked alternatives and a lock the agent will not override
- Full, Quick or Draft run quality, chosen per run and saved with it
- Automatic effects and ambience placed from each scene, mixed under narration and mastered to -16 LUFS
- Local narration with Piper or the voice built into macOS or Windows, with no key and nothing sent anywhere
- Review loops with chips and playhead comments for sound, voice takes and Ink drawings
- A Video Editor for your own footage: transcript-driven cuts on a timeline with video, audio and title tracks
- Export a cut, animatic, storyboard PDF, SRT captions, FCP7 XML and a provenance manifest
- Productions stored as versioned JSON, media and ledgers in a folder you own
- Harbor Light, a bundled eight-scene sample production that opens with no API keys
- Builds for Apple Silicon, Intel and 64-bit Windows, with signature-checked in-app updates on both platforms
## Questions
### Which coding agents can make videos with it?
Any MCP client on the same computer. The app writes the snippet for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, VS Code and Claude Desktop, with its own binary path filled in, and most other clients take the same mcpServers shape. Make a connection in Settings, MCP access.
### Who actually writes the video?
A coding CLI on your machine, the director: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor Agent, OpenCode, Devin, Kimi Code, Grok Build or Antigravity. It writes the script and directs the scenes. The app voices, renders, scores, masters and checks the cut.
### Is it free?
Yes. The free tier never expires: 25 finished-video exports and 10 director runs, at up to 1080p, 30 fps and 3 minutes. Pro removes the limits with one payment of $29, $59 or $89 for one, three or five devices.
### Do I need API keys?
No. Director runs, motion-graphics templates, Blender, Ink and local voice need no provider key. Gemini, Runway and fal are optional and only add generated stills and motion, billed by them on your own key.
### Can the agent do something I did not approve?
Only what its connection allows. Read only sees; Direct videos works on existing productions; Create videos can also make new ones. With gates on, the run stops at the script and the final cut until someone approves.
### Where do the files go?
Into a production folder you own: versioned JSON, media and ledgers. The finished cut is at exports/, other deliverables at deliveries/, and the agent gets absolute paths to all of them.
### Does it run on Windows?
Yes. There is a 64-bit Windows installer alongside the Apple Silicon and Intel builds, and the app installs its own FFmpeg, Blender and local voice there too. One difference to know about: the Windows installer is not signed with an Authenticode certificate yet, so SmartScreen warns on first run. The Mac build is signed and notarized.
### How is this different from 1MarketingTool or 1ShowcaseTool?
1MarketingTool owns campaigns and publishing, and 1ShowcaseTool owns screen capture and product demos. 1VideoTool owns the editable video production itself.
