# 1ShowcaseTool
> Record it once. Show it every way. A desktop app that records a browser session, a desktop window or the whole screen, destroys every credential on screen before it reaches disk, and turns the take into a step-by-step guide, a directed film, a 3D mockup, a click-through demo or a walkable 3D World tour.
1ShowcaseTool is made by StoicSoft (https://stoicsoft.com). It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. Recording, redaction and rendering all happen on the user's machine; nothing is uploaded, and generation runs through a local agent CLI (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor, Aider and eight others) or an API key the user pastes in, never through a hosted pool.
Guides export as self-contained HTML, PDF, Markdown, MP4, SCORM 1.2, PowerPoint, a click-through demo, a scrollytelling page or a LinkedIn carousel; recordings as MP4 with SRT/VTT captions; mockups and 3D World tours as PNG or MP4. Pricing is a free tier with every recorder and exporter and no time limit (exports are watermarked after the first 10 guides, and on screenshots, mockups and worlds), and $29 once per device for no watermark, look presets, styling and extra languages — no subscription.

## Switching guides
- [Scribe alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/scribe): Where Scribe still wins: Teams who want a shared, always-current library of process docs with link sharing, permissions and analytics built in — and who are comfortable with that library living in someone else's cloud.
- [Tango alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/tango): Where Tango still wins: Teams who want documentation and in-app walkthroughs from the same capture — onboarding a workforce into a web tool, where the guidance overlay is the actual deliverable.
- [Guidde alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/guidde): Where Guidde still wins: Teams whose deliverable is a narrated video — customer-facing how-tos and onboarding clips where a synthetic voiceover in multiple languages is worth more than a text document.
- [Supademo alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/supademo): Where Supademo still wins: Sales and growth teams who need a prospect-facing interactive demo with engagement analytics, embedded on a page and tracked like a marketing asset.
- [Arcade alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/arcade): Where Arcade still wins: Marketing and sales teams who need a beautiful, on-brand interactive demo above the fold, with the analytics to prove it converted.
- [Loom alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/loom): Where Loom still wins: Explaining something once, quickly, to a specific person — where tone and context matter more than precision, and the recording is disposable by design.
- [Folge alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/folge): Where Folge still wins: Windows-only teams who want offline step capture with mature document-format exports — particularly Word and PDF, which suit organisations whose documentation lives in SharePoint rather than a re…
- [iorad alternative](https://1showcasetool.com/alternative/iorad): Where iorad still wins: Training programmes where learners should practise the flow rather than read about it — the interactive 'try it' mode is genuinely distinctive and nothing here replaces it.
## Feature pages
- [3D Mockup](https://1showcasetool.com/features/3d-mockup): Stand a screenshot or a short clip in one of 23 unbranded 3D devices — laptops and monitors to a living-room TV and two watches — then keyframe the camera with one-click angles, held poses and split easing, and save tha…
- [3D World](https://1showcasetool.com/features/3d-world): Turn a folder of screenshots and clips into a walkable venue: pick one of ten rooms, hang your work on its walls, and export the tour as an MP4 with footsteps and room tone. Everything renders on your machine and is sav…
- [Annotation editor](https://1showcasetool.com/features/annotation-editor): Mark up a step's screenshot inside the app — crop, arrows, text, shapes, counters, pencil, highlighter, spotlight and image overlays, with secure pixelate for anything that should not travel. The tools float over the pi…
- [Sound](https://1showcasetool.com/features/audio-mixing): Clean up recorded sound at mix time — normalize speech, high-pass and gate a voice, duck system audio under narration, and add a click under each cursor press — without ever rewriting the source file.
- [Bring-your-own AI generation](https://1showcasetool.com/features/bring-your-own-ai): Turn a reviewed trace into a guide using an installed agent CLI or your own API key — generation never runs until you ask.
- [Browser recorder](https://1showcasetool.com/features/browser-recorder): Click through a web console once and capture every step with selectors and cropped screenshots — secrets never leave the page intact.
- [Click-through demos and carousels](https://1showcasetool.com/features/click-through-demos-and-carousels): Ship a guide as a click-through demo the reader advances by clicking the real control, a scrollytelling page, or a LinkedIn-ready carousel. Each is a self-contained file that carries your branding and the redaction mani…
- [Clip speed and timelapse](https://1showcasetool.com/features/clip-speed-and-timelapse): Play any clip at a speed from 0.25× to 24× — type a custom speed, or pick 16× or 24× to turn a long wait into a timelapse. The preview keeps up to 16×, and the exported file uses the exact speed you set.
- [Backgrounds, including your own image](https://1showcasetool.com/features/custom-backgrounds): Set what sits behind a recording — a gradient, a colour, a bundled plate or wallpaper, or your own image — for the whole take or just one clip. Your image travels inside the .1showcase project file, so the take opens th…
- [Desktop recorders](https://1showcasetool.com/features/desktop-recorders): Document native installers, desktop clients and terminals with a manual hotkey capture or auto click-to-step recording — without reading the keyboard.
- [Destructive redaction](https://1showcasetool.com/features/destructive-redaction): Two layers of secret destruction — inside the page before capture, then opaque pixel overwrite in review — with no unredact path.
- [Directed camera](https://1showcasetool.com/features/directed-camera): Sit a screen recording in a device on a stage and let a camera cover it — three film styles, seven angles, and cuts chosen so the UI stays readable. The frames that ship never change; only how they are shot does.
- [Draw on your recording](https://1showcasetool.com/features/draw-on-your-recording): Draw arrows, boxes, text and spotlights straight onto a screen recording and burn them into the exported MP4. Each mark is timed to the moment and anchors either to the picture or to the frame, so it lands exactly where…
- [Edit a generated guide](https://1showcasetool.com/features/edit-generated-guide): Rewrite a generated guide's steps and rearrange the marks on each screenshot right in the preview — the selectors, URL patterns and redacted screenshots stay exactly as recorded, so the guide still replays.
- [Follow-along overlay](https://1showcasetool.com/features/follow-along-overlay): Hand a browser-recorded guide to someone else and let the overlay point at the next target, correct wrong clicks, and recover from the wrong page.
- [Keep a guide in sync with your code](https://1showcasetool.com/features/guide-source-sync): Attach a Git repository to a standalone guide and map each step to the source files it documents; Check now compares your current checkout against the guide's baseline commit and flags the steps whose files changed, ren…
- [A tour you can work](https://1showcasetool.com/features/guided-tour): Six chapters that hand you the controls instead of showing you slides — including a review gate that will not let you past until you have actually masked a secret. It opens itself the first time and there are three ways…
- [Projects, folders and tags](https://1showcasetool.com/features/library-projects-and-tags): Organise recordings and guides into projects and folders with tags that cut across the tree — and tell eight takes all called “Entire screen” apart by their first frame.
- [Score](https://1showcasetool.com/features/local-score): Score a take with music generated on this machine that follows the film's own cuts — written per take, or authored once in Music Studio and fitted to any recording. Six moods, duck-under-speech, and a music lane you can…
- [Multi-format export](https://1showcasetool.com/features/multi-format-export): Export a finished guide as Markdown, self-contained HTML, an animated walkthrough, or MP4 — all from the same local take.
- [Music Studio](https://1showcasetool.com/features/music-studio): Write a score once — structure, voices, chords — with no recording open, then apply it to any take and let it re-fit to that film's own cuts. A score is notes performed on this machine, not an audio loop stapled underne…
- [Suggest masks with OCR](https://1showcasetool.com/features/ocr-mask-suggestions): On a desktop-window recording with no page to redact automatically, an on-device scan reads the text in your screenshots and queues suggested mask boxes over anything that looks like a secret — for you to review and com…
- [Pointer skins and shortcut labels](https://1showcasetool.com/features/pointer-and-shortcut-overlays): Restyle the redrawn pointer, clean its path without moving a single click, and label the shortcut a follower should press — captured as chords only, so what you type into the recorded app is never read.
- [Portable, editable projects](https://1showcasetool.com/features/portable-projects): Save selected recordings and guides — with their screenshots, editable sidecars and studio settings — into a single .1showcase file to back up or move to another machine; importing remaps every ID so it never overwrites…
- [Review and redact gate](https://1showcasetool.com/features/review-and-redact-gate): Generation, export and publish refuse until you acknowledge the review pass — and any edit clears that acknowledgement.
- [SCORM and PowerPoint export](https://1showcasetool.com/features/scorm-and-powerpoint-export): Hand a guide to a learning management system as a SCORM 1.2 package that reports completion, or to a meeting as a PowerPoint deck with one slide per step and speaker notes from the step body.
- [Screen recording studio](https://1showcasetool.com/features/screen-recording-studio): Record a continuous take of a display, window or region, then work it in Edit, Review and Guide modes — trim, let a critically damped camera push in on what you're doing, mask secrets and export an MP4 with the masks bu…
- [Animate a screenshot](https://1showcasetool.com/features/screenshot-motion): A Motion tab that animates any screenshot with a camera move and a particle layer, previews the loop live, and exports a smooth GIF or a full-colour APNG. The animation matches the preview frame for frame, and it all re…
- [Screenshot studio](https://1showcasetool.com/features/screenshot-studio): Capture a window, a display or a dragged-out region, beautify it with backgrounds, device frames, drawn scenes, a magnifier and annotations, then export a polished still or a before/after comparison — all in one place,…
- [Waveform and cue detection](https://1showcasetool.com/features/sound-waveform-and-cues): The screen-recording editor draws your recorded soundtrack as a waveform and finds the moments that matter in it — quiet pauses to cut, and claps or beeps to jump to. The markers are editing aids only; they never appear…
- [Studio Assist](https://1showcasetool.com/features/studio-assist): A panel of editing suggestions you accept or ignore — dead air to cut, harsh cuts that want a b-roll interlude, a colour grade read from the current frame, and a highlight reel of the busiest moments.
- [Studio timeline](https://1showcasetool.com/features/studio-timeline): A timeline for clips, camera moves, masks, shortcut keys, notes, b-roll and the score, where a lane appears only once it holds something. Copy, paste, duplicate and drag every bar on every lane, split, reorder, and give…
- [Talking head and captions](https://1showcasetool.com/features/talking-head-and-captions): Record a camera track alongside the screen and burn word-level captions into the export — transcribed on this machine on macOS, imported from SRT or VTT on Windows and Linux.
- [Value harvesting](https://1showcasetool.com/features/value-harvesting): When a step produces a key or ID, deliver it into the field it belongs to over localhost — only after explicit confirmation every time.
## Docs (10 languages)
- [Docs home](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en): The manual: capture, redaction, guides, export, mockups, 3D World. /docs redirects here; /docs/<lang>/<page> serves ten languages, falling back to English.
- [3D device mockups and camera keyframes](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/3d/3d-mockup): A mockup generator for screenshots and clips: seat your screen on an unbranded 3D device, keyframe the camera, export transparent PNG or MP4.
- [3D World: walk a gallery of your work](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/3d/3d-world): Hang your screenshots and clips in a walkable 3D venue — museum, cinema, rooftop, space station — script a tour, and export the walkthrough as MP4.
- [Connect an AI: your CLI or your own API key](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/getting-started/ai-setup): Guide generation needs an AI you bring: one of 13 local agent CLIs, or your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Azure or OpenAI-compatible API key.
- [Free vs Pro: the watermark after 10 guides](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/getting-started/free-and-pro): 1ShowcaseTool is free with every feature — guides export clean for your first 10, then carry a 'Made with 1ShowcaseTool' mark. Pro removes it.
- [Install on Mac, Windows and Linux](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/getting-started/install): Download 1ShowcaseTool for macOS, Windows or Linux from the download page — signed Mac builds, unsigned Windows and Linux builds, free to install.
- [What is 1ShowcaseTool?](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/getting-started/introduction): 1ShowcaseTool is a screen recorder and guide maker for Mac, Windows and Linux that turns one recording into guides, films, demos and exports.
- [The tour, library, projects and tags](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/getting-started/tour-and-library): A six-chapter tour teaches 1ShowcaseTool's record–review–generate flow, and the library organises recordings and guides into projects, folders, tags.
- [Install and use the browser extension](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/browser-extension): Set up the 1ShowcaseTool Chrome extension by hand — load it unpacked, pair it with the app over localhost, and record a flow that redacts first.
- [Four ways to capture a guide](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/capture-sources): Pick the capture source that fits what you are documenting — a step by step guide generator with four recorders, from browser clicks to hotkey stills.
- [11 export formats: HTML, PDF, SCORM, PowerPoint, demo](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/export-formats): One guide, eleven exports — HTML, PDF, Markdown, MP4, a SCORM authoring tool output for any LMS, PowerPoint, a click-through demo, scrollytelling and carousels.
- [Follower replay: a guide that walks beside you](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/follower-replay): A guide recorded in the browser can replay in a reader's tab — an overlay names each step, points at the live element, and recovers when the page has moved.
- [Generate a guide, SOP, runbook or onboarding doc](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/generate-a-guide): Turn a reviewed recording into written steps — a guide, tutorial, runbook or standard operating procedure — written by an AI CLI or API key you provide.
- [Keep guides in sync with your repo](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/keep-in-sync-with-code): Attach a Git repository to a guide and map steps to source files — drift checks flag each step whose code changed, was renamed, or was deleted.
- [The review gate: masks that can't be undone](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/review-and-redaction): Every recording stops at the review gate — open each screenshot, cover secrets with opaque fills, and acknowledge before generation and export unlock.
- [Translate a guide into other languages](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/guides/translate-a-guide): Generate a guide in extra languages — each becomes its own sibling guide with translated prose, while selectors, URLs and placeholders stay verbatim.
- [Music Studio: scores and hum-to-instrumental](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/music/music-studio): Write a score once and wear it on any recording: six templates, mood and voice editing, hum a melody into an instrumental, and fit the result to a take.
- [Edit by chatting with AI](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/recording/ai-studio-chat): Edit a take by asking in plain language: the studio chat turns 'cut all the pauses' into real edits on the timeline — visible, undoable, never automatic.
- [Auto-zoom that follows your clicks](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/recording/auto-zoom-camera): Auto-zoom screen recording without keyframing: the directed camera frames each click, tracks the pointer between them, and holds on the action.
- [Captions, SRT/VTT and chapters](https://1showcasetool.com/docs/en/recording/captions-and-chapters): Burn captions into a take or ship SRT/VTT sidecars: transcribe on-dev
