# GreenRocket
> GreenRocket (greenrocket.app) is the launchpad and community for founders, developers, and indie hackers to discover, launch, and share tech products, apps, tools, and ideas.
GreenRocket is a React single-page application (Vite + TypeScript + shadcn/ui) backed by Supabase (PostgreSQL + Auth + Realtime). Builders register for free, submit product launches with descriptions, screenshots, and links, then grow visibility through community upvotes, bookmarks, and discussion. Visitors discover the latest launches on a ranked feed, search the catalogue, and follow builders via public profile pages.
Key platform concepts:
- **Launch**: A submitted product with a name, tagline, description, URL, logo, screenshots, category, and launch date. Launches accumulate upvotes and are ranked on the /launches feed. Scheduled (future-dated) launches are publicly viewable immediately and show a live countdown until they go live at 12:00 AM UTC on their launch date.
- **Category**: Every launch belongs to one of thirteen canonical categories (AI & Machine Learning, SaaS & Business Tools, Mobile Apps, E-Commerce, Design & Creative, Fintech, Health & Wellness, Gaming, Education, Developer Tools, Productivity, Web3 & Crypto, plus an Other Tools catch-all for launches that fit no named category). Each category has a public archive page with a live launch count, newest/most-upvoted sorting, and all-time/month/week time filters. The index of all categories lives at /categories, a count-ranked tag cloud sits in the homepage hero, and category labels on launch cards link to their archive.
- **Launch Day**: The moment a scheduled launch goes live. An automated scheduler sends the maker a T-24h reminder email (with a pre-launch checklist) and a launch-day email, plus in-app notifications; live-now and upcoming launches are surfaced in the "Launching Today" rail on the home page and /launches.
- **Notification**: An in-app alert on a user's private inbox (/notifications) generated by community activity — replies to their discussions or posts, follows, kudos, launch updates on launches they upvoted, upvote milestones (10/50/100/500/1,000), and launch-day moments. A live unread badge sits in the navigation.
- **Builder**: A registered user who can submit launches, post bookmark links, write launch updates, and maintain a public profile.
- **Upvote**: Authenticated users upvote launches once per launch; the count is a primary ranking signal.
- **Bookmark**: Builders share curated external links (tools, articles, resources) as bookmark posts in the feed.
- **Blog**: The GreenRocket Blog (/blog) publishes essays and notes on launching, building, and shipping from the team behind the platform. Each post lives at /blog/:slug with its title, subtitle, keywords, featured image, and full Markdown content. Articles are presented evergreen — no visible publish dates on cards or post pages.
- **Feed**: A realtime activity stream showing new launches, bookmark posts, and updates from the community.
- **Sponsor**: Businesses can purchase sponsor slots on the platform via a self-serve Stripe checkout at /sponsors-ad.
- **Analytics**: Every launch tracks views, website clicks, shares, and bookmarks in a `launch_analytics` table; owners see charts at /launch/stats/:slug.
The tech stack: React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Supabase JS client, Stripe, Resend (transactional email), Netlify (hosting), Netlify Functions (server-side), Framer Motion.
Notable capabilities:
- Notification center: an in-app inbox grouping replies, follows, kudos, launch updates, and upvote milestones by day, with All/Unread filters, mark-all-read, and a live unread badge that polls once per minute.
- Launch day experience: live countdowns on scheduled launch pages, automated T-24h reminder and launch-day emails, and a Launching Today & Upcoming rail (LIVE NOW badge for same-day launches).
- Draft autosave: the submit wizard and Peerlist import autosave in-progress drafts per browser (14-day retention) with a resume/discard prompt.
- Top Astronauts leaderboard: gamified community ranking system honoring the top 100 makers and contributors based on product launches, kudos, upvotes, discussions, bookmarks, and profile completion.
- Cross-platform launch sync: creators can push and sync product launches, metadata, and screenshot galleries directly to SoloStack.Space; push status is honest — an amber Pending Review badge shows while SoloStack moderates the listing, and the View on SoloStack link appears only once the product is publicly live.
- AI discussion starters: smart, open-ended discussion prompts generated in real-time to spark community discussions around launches.
- Enhanced email notifications: streamlined, distraction-free transactional emails for follows, kudos, comments, and replies with maker profile metadata.
- Sharing: launches and pages offer a multi-platform share menu (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, Reddit, WhatsApp, Telegram, Email, Copy-link) that relies on each platform scraping the page's Open Graph / Twitter Card meta for rich previews.
- Blog publishing pipeline: blog posts are Markdown files bundled at build time — publishing a post means dropping the file into the blog content folder. Post pages carry an inline share row (LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, X, Pinterest, Email, Copy-link), an editor byline, keyword-based related articles, and a next-article link. Per-post Open Graph meta is injected server-side at the CDN edge, so social scrapers (which don't execute JavaScript) still see each article's real title, summary, and image.
- Launch updates & tools: creators can publish in-product updates (features, milestones) with an image gallery and access external launch promotion utilities in a dedicated Tools tab.
- Site announcements: dynamic, dismissible top notice banners for platform updates and community announcements.
- Dynamic SEO sitemap: automatically indexes all public routes and published editorial reviews with fresh metadata.
- Category browsing: thirteen category archives (including an Other Tools catch-all) with URL-addressable sort (newest/top) and time-window (all/month/week) filters, live launch counts, a count-ranked homepage tag cloud, and clickable category labels on every launch card.
- Image handling: all user uploads are compressed and re-encoded (WebP) before storage and served with long-lived cache headers to minimize bandwidth; list views select explicit columns to keep responses small.
- Avatar ubiquity: profile photos surface throughout the platform — in the homepage hero CTA button, the live community builder stack (up to 15 avatars), and via hover-to-upload on the profile page.
