# DockFlow
> DockFlow is a macOS productivity app by Appit Studio that lets you save, manage, and instantly switch between multiple Dock presets. It works with the native macOS Dock — no replacement, no special permissions, no learning curve.
## What DockFlow Does
- Save unlimited Dock configurations as named presets
- Switch between presets with one click from the menu bar
- Assign custom hotkeys to each preset (single key, key sequence, or multi-press)
- Add apps, folders, files, and web links to any preset
- Create custom Dock spacer apps to visually group items
- Define App Actions that run when switching presets (launch apps, open IDE projects, switch browser profiles)
- Automate preset switching via CLI tools and Apple Shortcuts
- Trigger automatic preset changes based on macOS Focus modes
- Export and import presets as JSON for backup or sharing
- Share presets publicly via DockShare.io community platform
- Import shared presets via deep links (dockflow://import)
## Browser Profile Support
DockFlow can switch browser profiles as part of a preset transition. Supported browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Brave
- Vivaldi
- Arc
- Firefox
By default, browser profile switching works without any special permissions. An optional "App Management" permission enables advanced profile detection.
## App Actions
When switching to a preset, DockFlow can automatically:
- Open a specific browser profile
- Launch an IDE with a particular project
- Run custom scripts or shortcuts
- Close apps that are not part of the new preset
Actions execute in parallel for fast transitions.
## Integrations
- **ExtraDock**: Deep integration — switching a DockFlow preset simultaneously switches ExtraDock floating docks via App Groups and Distributed Notifications
- **DockDoor**: Fully compatible — DockFlow works alongside DockDoor since both use the native macOS Dock
- **Apple Shortcuts**: Built-in Shortcuts actions for automating preset changes based on time, calendar events, or other triggers
- **CLI**: Command-line tools for scripting and automation
- **DockShare.io**: Community platform for sharing and discovering Dock presets, with authenticated upload and one-click import
## Custom Dock Spacers
DockFlow can create custom spacer apps that sit in the macOS Dock to visually separate groups of apps. These are lightweight stub applications stored locally, with a wizard UI for creation. Compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe.
