# Beam
> Beam shares windows between your Macs. A window on another Mac becomes a real window on the Mac in front of you:
> native, live and Retina sharp, with real keyboard and mouse input, its own Dock icon and a place in Command-Tab.
> Free to share your Macs and to use them for 20 minutes a day; $12 a month, $84 a year or $199 once for unlimited use.
Beam is a Mac app made by Noats, Inc. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on both Macs. Other devices can open a
single window through a share link in any browser.
## Key facts
- What it does: pick a window on another Mac and it opens on your desktop as a real window. Resize it and the real
window resizes; keyboard shortcuts, the clipboard, file drops and the app's sound come with it. Take a whole display,
or every screen of a Mac as one (Whole Mac). The Apps view lists the apps of every Mac, and any of them can be kept
in the Dock, ringed in its Mac's color.
- Versus screen sharing: screen sharing shows a picture of a whole desktop; Beam brings the window itself.
- Versus Universal Control: Universal Control shares one keyboard and mouse between Macs side by side; Beam brings the
windows of a Mac in another room or another city to the one in front of you.
- Connection: Macs on the same network connect directly. With Tailscale (optional) the other Mac can be anywhere.
Sign in once (email, Google, GitHub or X) and your Macs find each other; you approve every new Mac.
- Privacy: windows, keys, clipboard and sound go straight between your Macs, encrypted, and never through Noats'
servers. The account knows who you are, which Macs are yours and your plan. No analytics, crash reporting or
telemetry in the app. Hidden windows and password managers never reach the picker.
- Fixed and Fluid: by default a window stays on the other Mac and is used in place; Fluid moves it to your screen.
- Share links: one window in any browser, on any device, for someone without Beam. View only unless control is
allowed; it lasts from an hour to a week. Guests join free with no account. Sending links needs a paid plan.
- Headless Macs: a Mac mini or Mac Studio with no display lists its windows like any other Mac.
- Pricing (US dollars): Free shares any number of Macs, joins any share link and gives 20 minutes a day of using your
Macs from another one. Monthly $12 a month or Yearly $84 a year: unlimited, on every Mac you use, and the first
Monthly or Yearly starts with 14 days free (one trial per person and per card). Lifetime $199 once, with every
future update, for direct connections. Teams: $12 a person a month or $84 a person a year, with every seat 20% off from 10 people. A seat is a person, with unlimited Macs.
- Offline: Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime keep working for up to 30 days without the internet. Free needs a connection.
- Support: hello@beam.win. Refunds when Beam doesn't work for you and it can't be put right.
