# 1LocalAITool
> Local AI, as easy as ChatGPT. On your own computer. A private desktop AI app for macOS, Windows and Linux: chat like ChatGPT with a model that runs on your own computer, plus an overnight job queue, a phone inbox and a household pool of computers. Not affiliated with the LocalAI open-source project.
1LocalAITool is made by StoicSoft (https://stoicsoft.com). Stack: Tauri 2, Rust, React, llama.cpp sidecar, SQLite.. Happy path never shows VRAM, quantization names, or llama.cpp. Each job runs on one awake machine. Linking machines does not invent a cluster.
Version 0.2.0 (2026-09-24) added reading pictures: photos and scans back into Word, PDF or text, and pictures you can ask about in chat. Runs on macOS 13+ (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows 10/11 64-bit and, since 0.8.0, 64-bit Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 or newer; .deb and AppImage). Pricing: free to use with lifetime caps of 30 overnight jobs, 200 chat messages and 2 hand-picked chat models; Pro is one payment of $29 (1 computer), $59 (3) or $89 (5) with 12 months of updates, no subscription (Free, or Pro from $29 once).

## Feature pages
- [The two-second scan](https://1localaitool.com/features/two-second-scan): On first launch it looks at the machine and recommends a model in plain language. No numbers to look up.
- [One question on day one](https://1localaitool.com/features/one-question-setup): What else usually runs on this computer? That is the entire configuration.
- [The overnight queue](https://1localaitool.com/features/overnight-queue): Submit a job at bedtime. An idle machine in the house picks it up. The answer is waiting at breakfast.
- [The phone as inbox](https://1localaitool.com/features/phone-inbox): Ask from the sofa, read in the kitchen. The phone is the daily surface; it never runs the model.
- [Link your machines](https://1localaitool.com/features/link-your-machines): Linking widens what kinds of job you can accept and how often a worker is awake. It does not invent a cluster.
- [What it can do, and how long it takes here](https://1localaitool.com/features/honest-capability-list): Twelve kinds of overnight job ship as of 0.2.0, and every task card says how long it takes on this computer — measured or estimated, labelled as which.
- [Nothing leaves the house](https://1localaitool.com/features/nothing-leaves-the-house): Local-first, with the queue and the results in SQLite on your own disk.
- [One payment, no monthly bill](https://1localaitool.com/features/one-payment-no-bill): One payment, yours forever, with 12 months of updates. $29 for one machine, $59 for three, $89 for five — the licence is tied to you, not to a computer.
- [Chat with your own model](https://1localaitool.com/features/chat-with-your-own-model): A normal chat window, answered by a model on this computer. Attach files and ask about them; pin a conversation to whichever model suits it.
- [Skills a job can use](https://1localaitool.com/features/skills-a-job-can-use): Switch on what a job is allowed to reach for while it works — a web look-up, a read-only terminal — and what it should leave behind, like a deck or a PDF.
- [Pictures, 3D and voice](https://1localaitool.com/features/pictures-3d-and-voice): The night is long enough to draw a picture, sculpt a 3D model, read a chapter aloud, or turn a recording into text — all on this computer.
- [Routines that repeat](https://1localaitool.com/features/routines-that-repeat): A job you want again and again — a nightly summary, a weekly picture — set once and left to run on its own schedule.
- [Your own model endpoint](https://1localaitool.com/features/your-own-model-endpoint): OpenAI- and Anthropic-shaped endpoints on this machine, plus a batch API on the night queue, an MCP server and a command line. Point your editor at it and nothing changes except the bill.
- [Code with your own model](https://1localaitool.com/features/code-with-your-own-model): Install a coding agent CLI and have the app wire it to this computer's model for you — including the rules file, which the local model writes itself.
- [Models you choose](https://1localaitool.com/features/models-you-choose): The app picks a model that fits this computer on first launch, and after that the choice is yours — download others, switch per machine, or keep the one it suggested.
- [Read pictures](https://1localaitool.com/features/read-pictures): Turn photos, scans and screenshots back into text you can edit, as a Word document, a PDF or plain text, on this computer. Chat can answer questions about a picture too.
