# Termphin
> A free, open-source SSH client that keeps the shell alive on the server. SFTP, SSH keys, snippets and port forwarding, full-screen programs drawn properly, and sessions that survive a dropped connection or a locked screen.
Termphin connects your device straight to your own servers. Nothing is relayed or proxied: terminal contents, keys and transferred files never pass through Termphin, and profiles and keys are stored encrypted on the device behind a PIN or biometric lock. It is free and open source, under the GPL-3.0.
A small open-source helper is uploaded to your server over SSH and runs your shell under it, which is what lets a session outlive a dropped connection and be reattached later. Long-running terminal programs - including AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and aider - keep running while you are disconnected.
