# LogStitch
> LogStitch is a native macOS app for AWS Lambda observability. It reads the request ID stamped on every CloudWatch log line and stitches the lines back into the invocation they belong to, so a single Lambda execution reads as one coherent story instead of a timestamp-sorted stream. It runs locally on your Mac — your logs, AWS credentials, and Jira and GitHub data stay on the device — and includes an MCP server so Claude and other AI tools can query your logs without being given access to your AWS account. One-time purchase, 14-day free trial, no subscription. Built by Ryware LLC (Utah, USA).

## Free tools
- [CloudWatch Log Stitcher](https://logstitch.app/stitch/): A free browser tool that does the app's core trick on a paste. Give it raw CloudWatch output and it groups the scattered lines of each Lambda execution back into a single invocation, with duration, billed duration, memory, cold-start, timeout, OOM and error detection. Auto-detects console exports, `aws logs` CLI JSON, Logs Insights CSV, newline-delimited JSON, Lambda Advanced Logging Controls JSON, and gzipped files. Structured JSON log bodies are pretty-printed and syntax-highlighted by default, matching the Mac app's formatting, with a toggle back to the raw line. Runs 100% client-side — log content is never uploaded, stored, or sent to analytics. No account required.
## Lambda error index
- [AWS Lambda error index](https://logstitch.app/errors/): A reference index of AWS Lambda and CloudWatch errors. Each page answers one error string: what it means, how to confirm it from your own logs, the causes ranked by likelihood, and concrete fixes — then shows a real raw CloudWatch excerpt alongside the same excerpt stitched back into the single invocation it belongs to. Every stitched view is generated by running the excerpt through the same parser that powers the free web stitcher, so the example is what the tool actually produces rather than an illustration. Each page also states whether that failure increments CloudWatch's `Errors` metric, which is the distinction between an error that escaped your handler and one your code caught and logged.
- [Timeouts](https://logstitch.app/errors/timeouts/): Invocations killed for running past their configured timeout.
- [Memory](https://logstitch.app/errors/memory/): OOM kills, heap exhaustion, and the memory-ceiling signal Lambda does not publish as a metric.
- [Initialization](https://logstitch.app/errors/init/): Failures during init, before the handler runs.
- [Packaging & dependencies](https://logstitch.app/errors/packaging/): Missing modules, classes, and binaries in the deployment package.
- [Runtime errors](https://logstitch.app/errors/runtime/): Uncaught exceptions, unhandled rejections, and process exits.
- [Permissions](https://logstitch.app/errors/permissions/): IAM and KMS denials.
- [Networking](https://logstitch.app/errors/networking/): VPC, NAT, and downstream connectivity failures.
- [Throttling & limits](https://logstitch.app/errors/throttling/): Concurrency, rate, and provisioned-throughput limits.
- [Deployment & configuration](https://logstitch.app/errors/deployment/): Failures that happen while creating, updating or configuring a function — before it has ever run. These never reach CloudWatch Logs, and the pages say so rather than implying LogStitch can find them.
- [Platform events](https://logstitch.app/errors/platform-events/): The Lambda Telemetry API and Advanced Logging Controls records — `platform.report`, `platform.start`, `platform.runtimeDone`, `platform.initStart` — with every field explained and the raw JSON envelope shown next to the single readable line the text format produces.
