# Kipper

> Kipper lets a whole company ask questions about its NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or Xero data in plain English from Slack, Teams, SMS, and AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini), and get real, read-only answers in seconds. No finance-system seat required.

## Overview

- Kipper is a read-only conversational layer for the people who do not have, should not have, or cannot easily be licensed for a NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Xero seat: sales and support reps, warehouse and operations staff, project and cost-center owners, and executives who want a quick answer without opening the finance system. It generates a query against cached finance data and returns exact records, so answers are grounded in real data rather than model guesses.
- **What it answers:** direct lookups, filters, and sums on Customers, Invoices, Payments, Line Items, Vendors, Bills, Bill Payments, Purchase Orders, Inventory (including quantity on hand), Credit Memos, and Vendor Credits, grouped by the system's own field (Class in QuickBooks Online, Tracking Category in Xero, Class or Department in NetSuite). NetSuite additionally supports Subsidiary, Sales Orders, Quotes, and Bill of Materials. It also returns the finance system's own financial reports: Trial Balance, Profit and Loss, and Balance Sheet on all three systems, plus Cash Flow on QuickBooks Online and NetSuite (Xero does not expose one). Bank and cash balances are answerable on QuickBooks Online only, read from Balance Sheet report lines.
- **What it does not do:** it is not an analysis or bookkeeping-workflow tool. It returns the reports the finance system already produces, but does not build or interpret them: no reconciliation, bank-transaction matching, general-ledger or journal-entry detail, forecasting, budgeting, month-end close, financial ratios, or anomaly and opportunity detection. Individual bank feed transactions, imported bank statements, and reconciliation status are out on all three systems, and bank or cash balances are not available on Xero or NetSuite. Runway and burn rate are out everywhere, since they require assumptions about future spend. It does not connect to Stripe. It reads the finance system only and never writes or edits records.
