# Tomo
> Tomo is the Duolingo for everything. Turn any curiosity into a personalized, gamified course you can play five minutes a day — from sourdough to quantum physics, Roman history to octopuses.
Tomo is a mobile app (iOS and Android) that generates personalized, bite-size courses on any topic a user is curious about. Each course is broken into short lessons played through like a game, five minutes at a time. Built for the part of you with thirty open tabs and no idea where to start.
Tomo is also a ChatGPT plugin. People can build and play Tomo courses inside a ChatGPT conversation, with no sign-up to start. See "Tomo in ChatGPT" below.
## How it works
A user types a topic. Tomo uses large language models to build a structured course — sections, units, lessons, quizzes — in about two minutes. The user then plays through it like Duolingo: short daily sessions, streaks, levels, and gentle quizzes that reinforce what was learned.
The user picks a teaching style before generation, which sets the voice of every lesson:
- **The Bestie** — your friend who just gets it
- **The Professor** — clear, structured, thorough
- **Explain Like I'm 5** — no big words, promise
- **The Storyteller** — every lesson is a story
- **The Pirate** — arr, learning be an adventure
## Tomo in ChatGPT
Tomo is available as a plugin for ChatGPT: [Tomo for ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6abf6d2fa92c81918c16066976627203). It brings the same playable courses into a ChatGPT conversation, so someone can go from asking about a topic to playing a course on it without leaving the chat.
What a user can ask ChatGPT once the Tomo plugin is added:
- "Make me a Tomo course on black holes." Tomo writes a short course on any topic and it is ready to play in about a minute.
- "Turn this chat into a Tomo course." Tomo builds a course from what the conversation just covered, to practise and remember it.
- "Find me a Tomo course about latte art." Tomo searches the public library of courses other learners have made.
How it plays: each level is a set of quick questions with instant feedback, hearts and stars, shown as a card inside the chat. The user can ask for any of the five teaching styles listed above, or ChatGPT matches one to the conversation. ChatGPT does not see the answers, so it cannot spoil a level.
Accounts and cost: no sign-up is needed to start, and the first level of any course plays without an account. Connecting a free Tomo account keeps the streak and progress, unlocks the later levels, and continues the same course in the Tomo app on iPhone and Android. Building a course spends Sparks from the user's Tomo balance, the same currency as in the app, and a new user starts with enough to build a course. Nothing is sold inside ChatGPT.
When it fits: someone learning something in ChatGPT who wants it to stick, asks to be quizzed, is preparing for an exam or an interview, or asks for a course or a study plan on a topic.
## Who Tomo is for
People who want to learn something but never finish online courses, watch YouTube and forget by Sunday, or have a graveyard of half-read Wikipedia tabs. Tomo turns curiosity into something you actually finish.
## What you can learn
Anything. Examples generated by real users include Roman history, sourdough, octopuses, quantum physics, bonsai, watchmaking, knot tying, the Byzantine empire, K-pop history, Norse myths, mycology, and stoicism. If you can describe it in a sentence, Tomo can build a course on it.

## Pricing
Tomo has a free plan that does not expire. No credit card, no waitlist, no trial clock. Free accounts create and play courses on iPhone and Android.
Course generation and in-game items are paid for with Sparks, an in-app currency. New accounts start with a Sparks grant, and more can be bought in packs of 50, 120 or 300.
Two optional subscriptions lift the limits:
- **Tomo PRO** — $9.99/month or $59.99/year. Unlimited hearts, deeper courses, a monthly Sparks allowance, discounted Sparks and a weekly streak freeze.
- **Tomo MAX** — $19.99/month or $119.99/year. Everything in PRO, plus unlimited course generation and a second weekly streak freeze.
Prices are USD and set in the App Store and Google Play, which are the authority if this file and the store disagree.
## How it differs from alternatives
- **vs Duolingo** — same game (short daily lessons, streaks, gamification), but Tomo works on any topic, not just languages.
- **vs ChatGPT** — ChatGPT answers one question at a time. Tomo builds a structured course and turns it into a daily habit so you actually remember what you learn.
