Analytics tools work by loading a script on every page, and each one is recognisable: Google Analytics loads gtag.js with a G- measurement ID, Tag Manager loads gtm.js, Plausible and Fathom load their own scripts, and session recorders like Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies. We check the homepage's scripts, inline code and cookies against rules for web analytics, product analytics, heatmaps, session replay and tag managers.
This doubles as a Google Analytics checker: if a site runs GA4 through gtag.js or Tag Manager, it shows up here.
Limits: the quick check reads the page as served. Tools injected later by a tag manager, or only after a visitor accepts cookies, may not show until the full scan, which renders the page in a browser. Server-side analytics, which never touches the browser, can't be seen from outside.
Paste the address above. We look for the scripts, tracking IDs and cookies each analytics tool leaves on the homepage.
Run the site through the checker. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager both show up when they load on the homepage.
Some sites load analytics only after cookie consent, or inject it through a tag manager after the page loads. The full scan renders the page in a browser and catches more of these.
