# Couch
> Couch is a free, private video room for two people. You can share a browser tab with its sound and watch it together in sync, play built-in games, use face filters and save moments, all while seeing each other. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.
Key facts:
- Price: free. Sign in with Google.
- Rooms hold two people. Anyone new has to knock and be let in.
- Sharing a tab (for example a film on a streaming site) needs Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Arc on a desktop or laptop. Joining, watching, talking and playing work in any modern browser, including phones and tablets.
- Built-in games: Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever, Emoji Charades, Ludo, Tic-Tac-Toe, Snakes & Ladders, Co-op Sudoku, Jigsaw.
- Audio, video and screen share connect directly between the two devices using peer-to-peer (P2P) WebRTC, encrypted end to end. If a direct link can't be made, they go through Couch's relay, still encrypted so the relay can't see or hear them, and never recorded. Chat is not stored. Saved moments stay on the user's device.
- Room presets: Movie Date, Binge Watch, Game Room, Study Room, Fun Room, or a custom room. Rooms can be reopened any time.
- Works with any streaming site that plays in a browser tab: Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Max, Hulu and more. Each person uses their own subscriptions.

## How it works
1. Pick a room: Movie Date, Game Room, Study Room, or name your own.
2. Send the link on WhatsApp or anywhere. The other person taps it and knocks.
3. Hang out: share a tab with its sound, talk face to face, play and laugh.
## FAQ
### What is Couch?
Couch is a free, private video room for two people. You can share a browser tab with its sound and watch it together in sync, play built-in games, use face filters and save moments, all while seeing each other. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.
### Is Couch free?
Yes. Couch is free and has no ads. You sign in with Google, and there's no extension or app to download.
### How do I watch a movie together online with Couch?
Open a room, send the link, and once the other person knocks and you let them in, share the browser tab with the film and tick share audio. You both watch it live while you see and hear each other.

Yes. Couch shares whatever plays in a browser tab, including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Max and Hulu. Each of you uses the subscriptions you already have.

Two. Couch is built for one-on-one time, and anyone new has to knock and be let in, so nobody can walk into your room.
### Does Couch work on a phone?

### What games can you play on Couch?
Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever, Emoji Charades, Ludo, Tic-Tac-Toe, Snakes & Ladders, Co-op Sudoku and Jigsaw, all built in and playable face to face.
### Are Couch calls private and secure?
Yes. Couch uses peer-to-peer (P2P) technology, so your audio, video and screen share connect directly between your two devices, encrypted end to end. If a direct link can't be made, they go through our relay, still encrypted. Nothing is recorded, chat messages aren't stored, and saved moments stay on your device.
## Use cases
- [Long-distance couples](https://couchspace.live/use-cases/long-distance-relationships): What can long-distance couples do together online? The best long-distance dates give you something to do together instead of just talking: watch the same film in sync, play a two-player game like Ludo or Truth or Dare, cook or order the same dinner, or study side by side. Couch puts all of that in one private, free video room for two.
- [Watch movies together](https://couchspace.live/use-cases/watch-movies-together): How do I watch a movie with someone online at the same time? Share one stream instead of syncing two. On Couch, one person opens the film in a desktop browser tab and shares that tab with its audio; the other sees and hears it live while you both stay on camera. Pauses and rewinds happen for both of you, so you never drift out of sync.
- [Games for couples](https://couchspace.live/use-cases/games-for-couples): What games can couples play on a video call? The games that work best on a video call are short, turn-based and built around reactions: Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever, Emoji Charades, Ludo, Tic-Tac-Toe and Snakes & Ladders, plus Co-op Sudoku and Jigsaw when you'd rather team up. Couch has all eight built into its Game Room, so you both play on the same board while seeing each other, with nothing to set up.
- [Study together](https://couchspace.live/use-cases/study-together): How do you study together online? Open a video room with your study partner, agree what each of you will finish, then work with cameras on and microphones muted or low. Take a short break together every 25 to 50 minutes. Having someone visibly working alongside you, often called body doubling, makes it easier to start and stay on task.
- [Long-distance friends](https://couchspace.live/use-cases/long-distance-friends): How do you stay close to a best friend who lives far away? Keep a standing date and do something together, not just catch up. Watch the same show each week, play a quick game, or simply hang out on video while you cook or tidy. Couch gives the two of you a private room you keep, so next week you just open the same link.
- [Family far away](https://couchspace.live/use-cases/family-far-away): How can I spend time with my family when I live abroad? Turn calls into something you do together. Play a game everyone already knows, like Ludo, watch their favourite show with them, or cook the same family recipe on camera. Couch runs in the browser with no app to install, so a parent can join from their phone by tapping a link.
- [First video dates](https://couchspace.live/use-cases/video-first-dates): What should you do on a first video date? Do something light together instead of only talking: play a quick game like Never Have I Ever or Emoji Charades, watch a few movie trailers and rate them, or try silly face filters. A shared activity breaks the ice and shows how you click. Keep it short, 30 to 45 minutes, and end while it's going well.
