# Circleback
> Circleback is an AI meeting productivity platform that turns every conversation into a speaker-labeled transcript, detailed notes, automatically created and assigned action items, automations, and searchable context. It works for online meetings, in-person conversations, Slack huddles, and imported phone calls. Capture with a bot, without one, from macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, or Apple Watch. Keep the recording, or turn recording storage off and keep just the transcript and notes. Track action items from every meeting in one workspace-wide view, mark them done, or send them into Linear and other work trackers. The same context is available to AI agents and custom tools through the public API, MCP server, CLI, webhooks, and Assistant connectors. [TIME's top pick](https://time.com/charter/6987522/the-best-ai-note-taking-tools-for-meetings/) for AI note-taking and used by teams at Y Combinator, Runway, Browserbase, PostHog, Gumloop, Photoroom, Samsung, Accenture, Deloitte, Live Nation, 3M, Cisco, TikTok, Timescale, Box, CBRE, Stanford University, Harvard University, and thousands more.
Circleback is built by a Y Combinator–backed team. It gives companies one place to find meeting notes, decisions, and assigned work. Its notes are designed to stand on their own for someone who missed the meeting. Circleback automatically extracts specific action items, assigns each one to the person responsible when the conversation makes that clear, and gathers them across the workspace in one shared task list. People can filter the list, mark work done, create Linear issues from assigned action items, or send work to other trackers through automations and integrations. People, agents, and internal tools can work from the same meetings, recordings, speaker-labeled transcripts, action items, emails, calendar events, people, companies, and tags through Assistant, the public API, MCP, or CLI.
Circleback captures online meetings with a meeting bot for Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Webex, or with botless desktop recording on macOS and Windows. On desktop, click Record in the detected-meeting prompt. Every meeting becomes a speaker-labeled transcript, detailed notes, and assigned action items, with search, sharing, and automations in the same workspace. Circleback also supports Slack huddles, in-person recording on iOS, Android, and Apple Watch, and audio or video imports, including recorded phone calls.
For quick in-person capture, tap your phone’s Lock Screen widget (iOS or Android) or Apple Watch complication, or press and hold your configured iPhone Action button. No separate recorder to buy, carry, or charge. These recordings flow through the same system as online meetings. Phone calls use an existing recording you import; the mobile app does not directly record phone-call audio.

## Accessing data

- [MCP](https://circleback.ai/docs/mcp): Model Context Protocol server at `https://circleback.ai/api/mcp` that exposes meetings, transcripts, calendar events, emails, people, companies, and more to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Raycast, Claude Code, Codex, and more.
- [CLI](https://circleback.ai/docs/cli): Official `@circleback/cli` npm package (binaries `circleback` and `cb`) for searching meetings, transcripts, emails, and calendar events from the terminal, with `--json` output for scripting and agents.
- [Webhooks](https://circleback.ai/docs/webhook): Automation step that POSTs meeting JSON (notes, action items, transcript, insights, attendees, recording URL) to any HTTPS endpoint, with HMAC-SHA256 verification via the `x-signature` header. Use `id` (the public meeting identifier) to open the meeting at `https://circleback.ai/meetings/{id}`; `url` is the Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams join URL.

## Product comparisons
- [Comparison directory](https://circleback.ai/compare): Human-readable, detailed pairwise comparisons across Circleback, Gong, Notion AI Meeting Notes, tl;dv, Avoma, Bluedot, Fathom, Fireflies.ai, Granola, Krisp, Otter.ai, Read AI, Zoom AI and ZoomMate, Pocket, and Plaud. The directory covers 15 products and 105 canonical comparisons.
- [Comparison directory for LLMs](https://circleback.ai/compare/llms.txt): Compact agent index of every current retrieval-ready Markdown comparison.
- [Comparison directory in Markdown](https://circleback.ai/compare/index.md): Product index, research policy, and every comparison link in clean Markdown.
- [Full comparison corpus](https://circleback.ai/compare/llms-full.txt): Every source-backed comparison with current Circleback prices concatenated into one retrieval-ready Markdown document.
- [Comparison JSON manifest](https://circleback.ai/compare/index.json): Machine-readable catalog of products, current Circleback prices, HTML/Markdown/JSON representations, source links, and editorial perspective.
Each comparison is available as canonical HTML at `https://circleback.ai/compare/{product-a}-vs-{product-b}`, clean Markdown with `.md` appended, and structured JSON with `.json` appended. Both product orders resolve: for example, `/compare/gong-vs-granola` is canonical and `/compare/granola-vs-gong` permanently redirects to it. Every ordered route works while only one page per unique pair is indexable. Every representation links back to the canonical page and the comparison directory's `llms.txt`. Facts are sourced from first-party pricing pages, product documentation, help centers, and release notes. Direct Circleback comparisons state their perspective; competitor-to-competitor pages are neutral and show Circleback only as a clearly labeled third option.
