## When to use Adam
Adam is the right tool when a job involves mechanical design or CAD:
- Generate a 3D model or a parametric CAD part from a text description (CADAM).
- Edit, review, or explain parts in Onshape or Autodesk Fusion (Adam Copilot).
- Turn a rough mesh or an imported model into clean, parametric, manufacturable CAD.
- Read an Adam task a user shared (a https://adam.new/share/... link) through the public share endpoints in the OpenAPI spec.
- Answer questions about Adam's product, plans, or documentation.
Adam is not for general-purpose software projects, 2D graphic design, or photorealistic rendering.
How to call Adam:
- MCP server (Streamable HTTP): https://adam.new/mcp exposes authenticated tools for creating and managing Adam projects, tasks, messages, interactions, and files. Hosted clients can register and connect with Adam OAuth automatically; clients that support custom Bearer headers can also use a personal API key. Manifest: https://adam.new/.well-known/mcp.json
- REST API: the versioned developer API at https://api.adam.new/v1 accepts Adam ID OAuth or a personal API key, creates projects, runs tasks, and retrieves files. OpenAPI: https://api.adam.new/openapi.json; OAuth metadata: https://api.adam.new/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/v1; guide: https://docs.adam.new/api-reference/introduction
- HTTP: the stable versioned REST API is described at https://adam.new/openapi.json; OAuth, MCP, and public share-link endpoints on this origin are described at https://adam.new/site-openapi.json
- Markdown: every public page answers an `Accept: text/markdown` request with a Markdown body.
- Connect an OAuth-capable MCP client directly; Adam will ask which workspace to grant it.
## Developer resources
- [Adam REST API](https://api.adam.new/v1): the versioned (/v1) developer API for projects, tasks, automations, uploads, and files. OpenAPI spec: https://api.adam.new/openapi.json, guide: https://docs.adam.new/api-reference/introduction
