# Workshopy
> Write a live workshop as one plain Markdown file, run it, and see every participant's progress in real time.
Workshopy is a live workshop and classroom-engagement platform. A workshop is authored as a single Markdown document — each top-level `#` heading becomes a step, and a step tagged `#[quiz]` becomes a graded quiz. Participants join a live session with a 6-character code, no account and no install. The host sees a live grid of which step every participant is on and who has marked themselves stuck.
Built for: teachers and lecturers, bootcamp instructors, corporate trainers, workshop facilitators.
## What it is not
- Not a video-conferencing tool — run it alongside Zoom, Meet, or in a physical room.
- Not a slide deck or presentation editor — the content is Markdown, not slides.
- Not an async self-paced course platform (LMS) — sessions are live and instructor-paced.
- Not a standalone quiz-game app — quizzes are one step type inside a workshop, not the product.
## Pricing
- Free: 45-minute sessions, 30 participants, 1 concurrent session, 10 templates, 250 MB storage, 30-day report history.
- Pro ($19/month or $190/year): sessions of any length, 200 participants, 10 concurrent sessions, unlimited templates, 5 GB storage, 12-month report history.
## Guides
- [How to write a workshop in Markdown](https://workshopy.io/guides/write-a-workshop-in-markdown): The complete authoring format: how # headings become steps, what Markdown is supported, and how to import or export a single .md file.
- [How to add a quiz to your workshop](https://workshopy.io/guides/add-a-quiz-to-your-workshop): Write graded quizzes in plain Markdown with #[quiz], ## questions and - [x] answers — and see how correct answers stay hidden.
- [How to run your first live session](https://workshopy.io/guides/run-your-first-live-session): From a Markdown file to a running session: starting it, how participants join with a 6-character code, and pacing the room.
- [How to track participant progress in real time](https://workshopy.io/guides/track-participant-progress): How the per-step status model works — in progress, done and stuck — and how the dashboard turns it into a live view of who needs help.

## Who it is for
- [For teachers and lecturers](https://workshopy.io/use-cases/teachers): Run a hands-on lesson where you can see which student is on which step and who is stuck — without walking the room or asking out loud.
- [For bootcamp instructors](https://workshopy.io/use-cases/bootcamp-instructors): Run coding labs where you see who is stuck on which step in real time, and get a report showing where the curriculum loses people.
- [For corporate trainers](https://workshopy.io/use-cases/corporate-trainers): Deliver the same hands-on training repeatedly, see live who is keeping up, and leave every session with an attendance and engagement report.
- [For workshop facilitators](https://workshopy.io/use-cases/workshop-facilitators): Facilitate a hands-on workshop where the material paces itself, questions reach you in a queue, and nobody is silently left behind.
## Comparisons
- [Workshopy vs Slido](https://workshopy.io/compare/slido): Slido adds polls to a talk you are already giving. Workshopy runs the workshop itself and tracks each participant's progress.
- [Workshopy vs Mentimeter](https://workshopy.io/compare/mentimeter): Mentimeter makes presentations interactive. Workshopy runs the workshop itself, with per-participant progress. What each is for.
- [Workshopy vs Poll Everywhere](https://workshopy.io/compare/poll-everywhere): Poll Everywhere asks the room questions. Workshopy hands each participant the workshop and shows you who is stuck. A fair comparison.
- [Workshopy vs Kahoot!](https://workshopy.io/compare/kahoot): Kahoot! is a quiz game. Workshopy runs the hands-on hour around it, tracking every participant's progress. When to use which.
- [Workshopy vs a Shared Google Doc](https://workshopy.io/compare/google-docs): Most workshops run on a shared doc and a Zoom call. Here is exactly what that costs you, and what a purpose-built workshop runtime adds.
## Optional
- [Live demo](https://workshopy.io/demo): run a class for 45 simulated students, or join one as a student. No account.
- [Lesson library](https://workshopy.io/library): hands-on lessons published by teachers — learn one on your own, free and without an account, or copy it to run it live.
