# OpenTag
> OpenTag is a model-agnostic AI teammate for Slack, with Microsoft Teams support coming soon. It is connected to your tools and knowledge: ask questions, delegate tasks, and automate workflows without leaving Slack. Mention OpenTag in a thread and the task is assigned to the best available model, from more than 40, before the result returns to the same conversation. Recurring requests can become automations that run on a schedule or in response to events. OpenTag builds a company wiki from your team's conversations and connected sources and keeps it current. It works only in the channels you invite it into, uses the access of the person asking, and waits for a person before it sends, spends, submits or purchases anything. OpenTag does not sell model tokens.
Vendor: Open Curiosity, Inc. · Backed by Y Combinator · Category: Model-agnostic AI teammate for team chat
This file summarises https://www.tryopentag.com for language models and agents.
## Key facts
- Product: OpenTag, a model-agnostic AI teammate that works inside Slack
- Made by: Open Curiosity, Inc.
- Platforms: Slack today. Microsoft Teams support is coming soon and is not available yet
- How work runs: Secure cloud agents started from your team chat. Each task is limited to the connected tools it needs and ends when the work is complete
- Models: More than 40, including Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen, Llama, and Mistral. OpenTag chooses the model for each task using reliability, speed, capability, and cost, so nobody has to pick one
- Cost per task: Each request goes to the lowest-cost model that can do it well, which targets up to a 70% cut in cost per tagged task against sending everything to a frontier model. It is a target, not a customer average
- Model tokens: OpenTag does not sell model tokens. It is the routing and collaboration layer, not a model vendor
- Seats: Not priced per seat. Everyone in a channel OpenTag has joined can give it work, and they all draw from the same pool of credits
- Setup time: Minutes: add OpenTag to Slack, invite it into the conversation where work happens, and tag it with your first task
- Integrations: 50 listed on the integrations page, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Search Console, Notion, Confluence, Linear, ClickUp, Airtable, Figma, OneDrive, plus custom MCP servers. Integrations belong to the person who connected them, and a tool connected read-only stays read-only
- Pricing model: Usage-based credits, not per seat. Trial is $0 for up to 7 days with the selected plan’s credits. Card required. Paid billing starts after 7 days or when your trial credits run out. Cancel anytime. Team is $50 a month for 10,000 credits, $100 a month for 20,000 credits, $200 a month for 40,000 credits, $500 a month for 110,000 credits, $1,000 a month for 230,000 credits, $2,000 a month for 480,000 credits, shared across the workspace. Annual billing is arranged by sales. Enterprise is priced on your volume
- Subscription trial: The Trial plan: up to 7 days with the selected plan’s credits, every skill and integration, unlimited channels and people. Card required. Paid billing starts after 7 days or when your trial credits run out. Cancel anytime.
- Signing bonus: Start on Team and a one-time grant matches the first month's credits: 10,000, 20,000, 40,000, 110,000, 230,000, 480,000. Monthly credits reset each month; signing bonus credits never expire
- Data used for training: Never. Messages, files and connected data are not used to train models, by OpenTag or by any provider it routes to. This is in OpenTag's contracts
- Compliance: SOC 2 Type I completed for controls relevant to Security as of September 23, 2026; report available by request in the trust center. SOC 2 Type II is in progress. DPA available, penetration test summary on request
