# Pawse.ai
> Pawse.ai generates adaptive sound environments for dogs. The sound is built
> in real time for the individual dog rather than played from a catalogue, and
> it is shaped for canine hearing, which reaches roughly 45 kHz against a human
> ceiling near 20 kHz. An iPhone or iPad runs the session. A paired Apple TV can
> play it after you leave the house. Coming to the App Store on iOS, iPadOS and
> tvOS.
## What it is
Five environments, each named after a real situation: Sleep, Home Alone, Loud
Noise, Travel and Vet Visit. All five come with a Pawse.ai subscription, at €9.99 a
month or €69.99 a year. The Yearly plan starts with a free month. Monthly has no
free month and is charged from the first day.
Every session is generated as it plays. No two sessions share the same
parameters, and each drifts through its own range while running. That is a
deliberate answer to the best documented finding in this literature: Bowman et
al. (2015) found the calming effect of a fixed recording clear on day one and
gone within seven, with habituation starting as early as day two. Every
competitor in this category ships a fixed catalogue.
After each session the guardian picks what the dog did. Settled sooner than
usual, about the same as usual, or restless, panting or hiding. That answer
shapes the next session. A guardian who was not there says so, and nothing
changes.
## What Pawse.ai does not claim
Pawse.ai does not claim to be clinically proven. No product in this category
has earned that claim. Two things are well supported: that dogs hear a range
people do not (Heffner 1983 measured four dogs from 63 Hz to 47 kHz), and
that a fixed recording stops working within about a week. Whether any given
sound calms a particular dog is a measurement nobody can currently make.
A 2020 review (Lindig, McGreevy and Crean, *Animals* 10(1):127) found only nine
experimental studies in the whole literature and little empirical evidence
behind tools marketed as dog music. A 2025 head-to-head test (Beecy et al.,
*Applied Animal Behaviour Science*) compared music sold as dog music against
human relaxation music against silence and found essentially no difference.
Pawse.ai is a canine wellness product, not a medical device, and never replaces
veterinary care, medication or behavioural treatment.
## Hardware, in development
The Pawse.ai Tag is a collar-mounted sensor, not yet shipping. It carries a
microphone and an accelerometer and reports bark, movement and room-noise
events so the feedback loop closes from the dog rather than from the guardian.
Raw audio never leaves the tag. Only classifier output is transmitted.
