# Aloud
> Aloud is a macOS app for giving feedback to AI coding agents by talking. You record yourself talking through whatever you're building — an app, a site, a design — with your voice, the screen and a live transcript captured together, and Aloud rewrites the transcript to what you actually meant, suggests screenshots wherever you said "this" or "that", and exports one self-contained file that Claude Code, Cursor or Codex can act on.
Key facts:
- Transcription runs on-device (Whisper); audio and screen video never leave the Mac.
- The optional AI steps — transcript cleanup, follow-up questions, screenshot suggestions and the plan — run server-side on the transcript text, typed notes and selected still frames only; that data is kept for ninety days, then deleted, and is never used to train models.
- The download is free. Recording, transcription, annotation and export are free and work offline; the AI steps come with a free hourly allowance — the app shows how much of it is used.
- Two shortcuts work from any app: ⌥⇧N to talk (the screen records too, and thirty seconds of silence stops it) and ⌥⇧S to capture an area.
- Four built-in workflows — Clean up, Clarify, Add images and Plan — plus workflows you describe yourself. Send to Claude opens the plan in Claude Code; nothing runs until you press Enter.
- Requires an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or newer) running macOS 12 Monterey or later.
- An account is an email address plus a six-digit code — no password.
- Made by Brain function collapse, the independent studio of Wojciech Dobry, since 2026.
