# Starlie for Jira
> Native macOS desktop app for Jira Cloud and self-hosted Jira — search, sprint boards, and issue editing. 7-day free trial; US prices $2.99/month, $14.99/year, or $29.99 lifetime. Local prices may vary. Jira content flows directly between the user's Mac and their Jira instance.
Starlie is a true native Mac application (not a browser or Electron wrapper) for Jira Cloud and self-hosted Jira. It requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later and is available on the Mac App Store with a 7-day free trial (US prices: $2.99/month, $14.99/year, or $29.99 one-time lifetime license). There is no Starlie account. Jira Cloud users sign in through Atlassian OAuth 2.0 (3LO), and tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain on the device. Starlie is listed on the Atlassian Marketplace as a partner app, reviewed and approved for distribution. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Atlassian; Jira is a trademark of Atlassian.
Core features: ⌘K quick search across issues, summaries and projects; advanced search with full JQL, autocomplete and syntax highlighting; the active sprint as a native kanban board with drag-and-drop that syncs to Jira instantly; a full issue view with description, fields, subtasks and comments in a real Mac window; and an Outline window showing epics, stories and subtasks across projects as a single tree. The app integrates with native macOS notifications, light and dark mode, and multi-window.
Architecture and data handling: issues, comments, attachments and user details are requested directly between the user's Mac and Atlassian's official API over TLS, and cached locally. Starlie's only server, auth.starlie.app (operated in the EU), performs the OAuth token exchange and never receives Jira business data. The app contains no analytics, tracking, advertising, remote logging, or crash reporting.

- [Starlie for Jira (home)](https://starlie.app/): Product overview, feature tour, Mac download with 7-day free trial, five-step setup guide (download, install, sign in with Atlassian, authorize your Jira site, start working), usage tips, and troubleshooting.
- [Privacy Policy](https://starlie.app/privacy/): How Starlie handles data — Jira content stays on the user's device and is never sent to Starlie servers, sign-in tokens live in the macOS Keychain, the app has no analytics or tracking, and the website uses a cookie-free visitor counter. Also covers what data Starlie does receive (OAuth token exchange, purchase information from Apple, support emails), sub-processors (Atlassian, Apple, auth.starlie.app, Cloudflare), storage locations, retention, and GDPR rights. Operated by David Zukhbaia, individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia; contact support@starlie.app. Last updated 30 July 2026.
- [Security](https://starlie.app/security/): Security practices — local desktop client architecture, Atlassian OAuth 2.0 (3LO) sign-in with the client secret kept server-side and never embedded in the app, tokens in the macOS Keychain, local-only storage, an in-memory-only diagnostic buffer that is never written to disk or transmitted, TLS everywhere, sub-processor list, and vulnerability reporting to support@starlie.app (acknowledged within 3 business days; no paid bug bounty). Last updated 30 July 2026.
- [Support & SLA](https://starlie.app/support/): Support channels and service levels — email support@starlie.app, hours Monday–Friday 10:00–18:00 Georgia time (GMT+4), first-response targets of 1 business day (critical), 2 business days (standard) and 5 business days (low). Scope covers the current release on macOS 15 or later connected to Jira Cloud. Last updated 23 July 2026.
- [Jira for Mac: native clients and desktop options](https://starlie.app/jira-desktop-app/): Atlassian has no official desktop app since it sunset Jira Cloud for Mac in February 2022; comparison of the web app, third-party "Desktop App for Jira" (needs a Jira-side connector), website wrappers, and Starlie.
- [Jira keyboard shortcuts](https://starlie.app/jira-keyboard-shortcuts/): the keys Atlassian documents for Jira Cloud (?, C, O, A, I, M, J, K, N, P) and the full list of Starlie's macOS shortcuts (⌘K open quickly, ⌘⇧F advanced search, ⌘N create, ⌘1/⌘2 list or board, ⌘⇧S Structure).
- [How to create a subtask in Jira](https://starlie.app/how-to-create-subtask-in-jira/): steps for company-managed and team-managed projects, limits (no nested subtasks), linked work items and link types, JQL (parent = KEY, subTaskIssueTypes(), linkedIssues()).
- [Linear vs Jira](https://starlie.app/linear-vs-jira/): honest comparison of pricing, platforms, speed and customisation; Linear has native desktop apps, Jira does not; Starlie gives Jira users a native Mac client.
- [Free JQL query builder](https://starlie.app/jql-query-builder/): Six editable Jira Cloud search recipes for unfinished work, active sprints, unassigned issues, overdue issues, stale work, and recently created issues. Optional project key; copyable JQL, no login or Jira connection.
