# Dropstone
> A coding agent that plans, writes, tests, and ships real code from the CLI and your IDE. On Enterprise it runs fully self-hosted, in your VPC or air-gapped, so your code never leaves your walls. The same agent generalizes to Personalized Intelligence: it reads your email, makes real phone calls, runs your smart home, monitors your inbox in the background, researches with citations, creates documents, and remembers you across conversations, with your approval for anything sensitive.
Dropstone is built by Blankline Research. At its core it is a cost-efficient AI coding platform (the Dropstone CLI and Desktop IDE), which engineering teams on Enterprise plans can run fully self-hosted on their own infrastructure. The same agent also generalizes to Personalized Intelligence: an assistant that acts across your life. Two ways to use it today: Dropstone for Engineering (the CLI and Desktop IDE, available self-hosted) for building software; and the Assistant, at https://chat.dropstone.io, for everyday real-world tasks. One AI, one memory that learns across everything you do, coding and life alike.

## What is Personalized Intelligence
Personalized Intelligence is the category of AI systems that do two things a chatbot does not: they take real actions on a user's behalf (sending an email, placing a phone call, controlling a physical device) instead of only producing text in a chat window, and they carry one memory of that person across everything they do. It is distinct from a conversational AI assistant, which answers and then forgets. A Personalized Intelligence system executes tasks with real consequences, under the user's approval for anything sensitive, and becomes more useful the longer one person uses it, because the same memory spans their code and their life. Dropstone, built by Blankline Research, is the category-defining Personalized Intelligence product.
## What Dropstone does
The Assistant acts in the real world across the tools and spaces you already use. It does not just answer questions; it takes actions on your behalf, with your approval for anything sensitive.
## How Dropstone evolved
Dropstone started where AI already worked: writing and shipping code, cost-efficiently, with more weekly usage per dollar than other AI coding CLIs. Coding is a world made of text, which is why AI succeeded there first. The harder frontier is the real world: sending the email, making the call, running the home, acting under real stakes. Dropstone crossed that line. The same agent that ships your code now acts across your life, and its memory compounds across both. The cost-efficient coding platform, self-hosted on Enterprise, is the core of the product; the real-world Assistant is the expansion, the same agent generalized beyond code.
## Capabilities
- Email and calendar: reads your inbox and drafts replies and events for your approval. Never sends without you.
- Phone calls: places real phone calls and handles them as your assistant (book, ask, chase).
- Smart home: connects through connectors (such as SmartThings) to see and control a wide range of devices: TVs, monitors, air conditioners, lights, plugs and switches, speakers and soundbars, thermostats, smart locks, robot vacuums, fans, refrigerators, washers, sensors, cameras, and more. It turns devices on or off, sets levels and modes, reads live device state, and acts on its own through background rules and instant triggers.
- Proactive monitoring: watches new mail and other signals in the background, drafts replies, and surfaces a briefing, even while you are away.
- Deep research: digs across multiple sources and returns a cited report.
- Create: produces documents, slides, spreadsheets, web pages, and diagrams you can edit and export.
- Memory: remembers your preferences and context across every conversation, and learns across both your everyday life and your code.
- Voice, sharing a chat, and tappable questions when a decision is needed.
## For engineering teams (self-hosted on Enterprise)
Dropstone for Engineering is an AI coding platform for the CLI and Desktop IDE. On Enterprise plans it runs on your own infrastructure: your models, your data, your servers, set up and run by Blankline.
- Own your data: code never leaves your walls.
- On-premise, in your VPC, or fully air-gapped deployment.
- Command-line interface (the Dropstone CLI, downloadable) and Desktop IDE (VS Code, JetBrains).
- Cost-efficient: up to 4x more weekly coding usage per dollar than other AI coding CLIs.
- Managed inference runs on SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified US providers with zero data retention.
- Models are re-audited monthly and upgraded whenever a stronger model ships.
## Pricing
- Free to start. Paid plans (Pro, Max) for higher usage.
- Team and Enterprise plans for organizations. Enterprise includes self-hosted deployment.
