# Decktly

> Decktly is a free editor for HTML presentations ("PowerPoint for HTML"). Open an HTML deck, for example one generated by Claude or ChatGPT, edit text and layout, add editable charts and tables, use slide masters, leave comments, present, and save it as HTML. The desktop app also exports to PDF and PowerPoint (.pptx).

Decktly is an independent product by Hannes Krieg (Esslingen, Germany). It is not affiliated with Microsoft, Anthropic or OpenAI. "Like PowerPoint" describes familiar editing steps, not full PowerPoint feature parity.

- Price: free (free account required to download the desktop app and to save in the browser)
- Platforms: Windows 10/11 desktop app (also an MSI for managed deployment), macOS desktop app for Apple Silicon only, browser version at app.decktly.com (saving local files needs desktop Chrome or Edge)
- File format: opens and saves standard .html; the saved deck opens in any browser. Also edits Markdown (.md) files
- Editing: text, fonts, colours, lists; move, resize, align, group and rotate objects; shapes, connectors, pictures, icons, hyperlinks; find and replace
- Charts: 13 chart types with a data grid and format dialog; toggles and filters stay interactive when presenting. Charts inside imported decks may be images or custom code and are not always editable
- Tables: cell selection, merge/split, heatmap
- Slide masters: reusable layouts with theme colours and fonts; start a new deck from a master or apply one to a Decktly slide deck. Hidden slides, sections, drag-to-reorder
- Comments: comments, replies and @-mentions are stored inside the HTML file
- Export (desktop app): PDF, and PowerPoint .pptx (one picture per slide; editable text boxes on Decktly slide decks, pictures only for other HTML decks). No .pptx import
- AI (optional, desktop app): connect Claude or Codex with your own subscription; manual editing needs no AI account
- Privacy: manual editing runs locally; decks are not uploaded to Decktly

## Limits
Complex CSS layouts, canvas drawings, some embedded frames (data: URLs or separate files), server-side apps and custom scripts may still need code changes. Embedded frames written as srcdoc can be edited. The browser version cannot save local files in Safari, Firefox or on mobile, and has no AI, export or file explorer (desktop only). Decktly is not a website builder or hosting service.
