# CV Score Last updated: 2026-09-10 > Free CV assessment in 60 seconds, with the detailed fix report available as a one-time purchase. An AI review of your CV or resume against 8 professional categories and 48 criteria — content, structure, keywords and ATS compatibility. Seeing how your CV performs overall and whether it is worth fixing costs nothing; the numeric 0–100 scores, the detailed findings, fix guidance and rewritten passages are unlocked by a one-time payment from $4.99. ## About CV Score evaluates resumes and CVs across 8 professional categories and 48 individual criteria — the same standards recruiters and applicant tracking systems apply. The categories, in report order, with the number of criteria each contains: 1. Contact Information & Header (5 criteria): full name visibility, contact details completeness, professional links, header layout and hierarchy, professional title or tagline 2. Professional Summary (5): presence of summary, clarity and conciseness, relevance and focus, differentiation, length appropriateness 3. Work Experience (8): chronological consistency, role descriptions, achievement quantification, action verb usage, relevance and focus, gap handling, company context, progression demonstration 4. Education & Qualifications (5): degree and institution clarity, relevance of education, certifications and courses, academic achievements, placement and proportion 5. Skills & Competencies (6): skills section presence, categorization and organization, specificity, relevance, proficiency indication, skill-experience alignment 6. Layout & Visual Design (8): overall readability, consistent formatting, section separation, white space usage, length appropriateness, bullet point usage, font and typography, visual balance 7. Language & Communication (6): grammar and spelling, tone and professionalism, clarity of expression, tense consistency, jargon appropriateness, conciseness 8. Strategic Positioning & ATS Readiness (5): keyword optimization, ATS-compatible format, tailoring indicators, personal branding, competitive positioning Every report evaluates the same 8 categories in the same order, and every category always contains all of its criteria. Each of the 48 criteria is scored 0–100 on its own; those scores roll up into one score per category and one overall score from 0–100. The AI generates the overall score; if that value is missing, the mean of the available category scores is used. Scores are banded as: 75–100 strong (ready to send, polish the details), 50–74 solid (targeted fixes will move the needle), 0–49 at risk. The full scoring rubric is published at https://cvscore.net/methodology/. Founded by Aleksandar Jovanovic and Jake Holmes; operated by The CodeCave GmbH, Frechen, Germany. - No account is needed to start: a guest can upload a PDF in the app and have it evaluated. A free account (one click with Google or LinkedIn) opens the result and keeps it in a dashboard; no credit card at any point of the free tier - PDF input, up to 5 MB and up to 3 pages; native text and scanned documents (OCR) are both supported - Results delivered in 60 seconds - GDPR compliant. CV Score does not sell CVs; the service providers used for analysis and storage are named at https://cvscore.net/subprocessors/ ## Limitations Published at https://cvscore.net/methodology/ under "What we honestly can't do", and repeated across the product pages: - CV Score evaluates the CV document — not the applicant's actual qualifications and not how they interview. - The overall score is a document-review heuristic. It is not an employer ATS score and not an interview probability. Findings should be read in the context of the applicant's experience and target role. - CV Score extracts the text of the PDF and reviews the document with AI. It does not run the CV through Workday, SAP or another employer's ATS, and it does not compare the CV against a job description. Without a job description there is no match score and no list of an employer's required keywords. - The layout check looks for readability and formatting concerns in the extracted document; it does not reproduce every parser's reading order. - The paid Fix Report contains suggested rewrites. Every suggestion has to be checked against the applicant's actual experience before it is used; the applicant remains the author. ## Definitions - A CV score is a 0–100 rating of how well a CV or resume meets the standards recruiters and applicant tracking systems apply: content quality, structure, keywords, ATS readability and more. CV Score calculates it across 8 categories and 48 criteria, so the number comes with the specific findings behind it. - An ATS resume checker is a tool that reviews how readable a resume is for recruiting software: it looks at how sections, dates and skills are structured and worded, and reports what is likely to cause problems, so formatting and keyword gaps can be fixed before applying. ## Pricing Having a CV assessed is free and needs no credit card. The free result says how the CV performs overall — a verdict and a percentile against the real distribution, a traffic-light band and issue count per category, one strength in full, and the headline of the single highest-impact problem. Unlocking the detailed report — the numeric 0–100 score per category and overall, every issue explained, the flagged passages rewritten — costs: - Fix Report: $4.99 (1 report unlock incl. rewritten before/after versions of your flagged sections, ready to paste, + 1 verification re-scan) - Job Search Pack: $12.99 (5 Fix Report unlocks — best value) - Lifetime: $29.99 one-time for unlimited report unlocks - All prices include VAT/sales tax — the price shown is the price charged, with no extra fees at checkout - Subscriptions are no longer offered to new customers; the terms only still cover accounts with an active legacy subscription Full pricing details: https://cvscore.net/pricing/ ## Tools - [ATS Resume Checker](https://cvscore.net/ats-checker/): Free 60-second assessment of the structure, wording and keyword coverage of your PDF, including ATS-safe formatting; the detailed fixes are a paid unlock - [CV Checker](https://cvscore.net/cv-checker/): Objective CV analysis with fixes ranked by impact - [Resume Checker](https://cvscore.net/resume-checker/): Free resume assessment with ATS compatibility included; the numeric scores and detailed fixes are a paid unlock - [CV Review](https://cvscore.net/cv-review/): Professional CV review with specific, prioritised feedback - [Methodology](https://cvscore.net/methodology/): The 8 categories and all 48 criteria behind every report, and what the tool cannot do ## Guides - [ATS Resume Format Guide (2026)](https://cvscore.net/blog/ats-resume-format-guide/): Fonts, margins, section names, dates and file types that parse cleanly - [What is an ATS?](https://cvscore.net/blog/what-is-ats-applicant-tracking-system/): How applicant tracking systems filter and rank resumes - [Resume Keywords](https://cvscore.net/blog/resume-keywords-beat-ats/): How to extract keywords from a posting and where to place them - [Resume Power Words](https://cvscore.net/blog/resume-power-words-synonyms/): 150+ synonyms for action verbs - [Communication Skills Synonyms](https://cvscore.net/blog/communication-skills-synonyms-resume/): 75+ better ways to express communication skills - [CV vs Resume](https://cvscore.net/blog/cv-vs-resume-differences/): The difference in the US, UK and Europe, and when to send which - [Current Resume Format](https://cvscore.net/blog/current-resume-format-2025/): What hiring managers want in 2025-2026 - [Cover Letters in 2026](https://cvscore.net/blog/do-you-still-need-cover-letters-in-2026/): Whether you still need a cover letter ## Role-Specific Analysis - [Software Engineers](https://cvscore.net/for/software-engineers/): Tech stack, project impact, and engineering keyword analysis - [Data Scientists](https://cvscore.net/for/data-scientists/): Technical methodology and research presentation - [Product Managers](https://cvscore.net/for/product-managers/): Strategy, metrics, and cross-functional leadership - [Graduates](https://cvscore.net/for/graduates/): How to structure an entry-level CV — education, projects, and transferable skills - [Career Changers](https://cvscore.net/for/career-changers/): Transition narrative and transferable experience ## Additional Pages - [How It Works](https://cvscore.net/how-it-works/): Three-step evaluation process - [Sample Report](https://cvscore.net/sample/): Example CV evaluation report - [FAQ](https://cvscore.net/faq/): Common questions about the service - [Pricing](https://cvscore.net/pricing/): Free assessment, paid report unlocks, and lifetime plan details - [About](https://cvscore.net/about/): Mission, team, and methodology - [Methodology](https://cvscore.net/methodology/): The full published scoring rubric — all 8 categories and how scores are banded - [CV Score vs human CV review](https://cvscore.net/compare/vs-human-review/): How automated scoring compares with a human reviewer - [Alternatives](https://cvscore.net/compare/alternatives/): How CV Score compares with other resume checkers - [Privacy Policy](https://cvscore.net/privacy/): Data handling and GDPR compliance - [Subprocessors](https://cvscore.net/subprocessors/): Every service provider that touches a CV, and what it receives - [Imprint](https://cvscore.net/imprint/): Legal operator details for The CodeCave GmbH ## Languages The site is published in 15 languages with translated URL slugs.
