# Bevell

> Browser-based CAD conversion. A photo, sketch, scan or PDF drawing goes in; an editable DXF and a true-scale SVG come out. No install, no CAD licence.

Bevell traces linework to single centrelines rather than outlining every dark region, which is why lines come back single instead of doubled. Shapes that genuinely are circles, arcs or rectangles are exported as those entities. Scale is set from one dimension the user measures on the original, so the file opens at true size.

## What it costs

- Previews are free and unlimited, and need no account.
- Downloading costs: 3 free on signup, then £1.99 for one more, £5.99 for five, or £9.99 a month for unlimited downloads.
- Bought downloads never expire. A download covers any mode, logos included.
- A download covers the job, not the format, so the DXF and the SVG of one conversion count as one.
- Re-downloading a file already taken is always free.
- Full refund within 14 days if nothing was downloaded.
- Sketchpad editing is in beta: included with Unlimited, or by early access, approved by hand. An approved account gets the same Sketchpad as Unlimited.
- Sketchpad's AI calls use AI credits: 100 a day with Unlimited or beta access. A concept uses 3 AI credits, lettering cleanup 1 and planning a request 1. Tracing is free.
- Packs are for converter DXF and SVG downloads. Sketchpad's AI credits and editing are not included.

## What it accepts and returns

- Input: PNG, JPG, WebP up to 10 MB. PDF and TIFF up to 50 MB, one page at a time.
- Output: DXF and true-scale SVG, both from every conversion.
- Opens in Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Onshape, FreeCAD, Rhino, LightBurn and Inkscape.
- Four modes: direct trace for drawings and scans, outline only for a photo of a real object, AI redraw for a complex photo or rough sketch, logo for flat artwork.
- Lettering can optionally be read as editable CAD text instead of traced. Off by default.

## Limitations, stated plainly

- AI redraw interprets rather than measures, so it can shift or drop detail. Check the preview when accuracy matters.
- Output is one linework layer plus TEXT. There is no stroke-weight layer split today.
- Scale is only correct if a reference dimension is given. There is no automatic scale.
- The preview carries a watermark. The downloaded DXF and SVG never do.
- Only raster and PDF input. It does not take a mesh or a point cloud yet.

## Privacy

- Uploads and previews are deleted within 24 hours for signed-out users.
- Signed-in users keep their upload with its conversion, and the files they downloaded, while the account is active.
- Direct trace and outline only run entirely on Bevell's own servers.
- AI redraw, logo and Sketchpad's AI features send a copy to OpenAI, which does not train on API inputs.
- Downloaded files are the user's to use commercially, with no attribution.

### What is Bevell?

Browser-based CAD conversion. You upload something you already have, a photo, a sketch, a scan or a PDF drawing, and get back a clean, editable CAD file at real-world scale. Nothing to install and no CAD licence needed to use it.

### What can it convert, and what opens the result?

Photos of parts, hand sketches, scanned drawings and PDF plans go in; standard DXF and true-scale SVG come out. Because the output is standard rather than proprietary, it opens in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Onshape, FreeCAD, Rhino and any CNC or laser software that reads DXF.

### Will the dimensions be correct?

Yes, once you set the scale. You give one reference dimension from the original and every curve is scaled to match, so the file imports at true size instead of needing to be rescaled by hand afterwards.

### What does it cost?

### Can I edit a conversion before I download it?

Yes. Open Bevell Sketchpad from a conversion or history entry to adjust selected points, apply constraints and driving dimensions, move guides, and tune SVG style. Sketchpad is in beta: it's included with Unlimited, or you can request early access when you open it. Bevell Unlimited at £9.99 a month edits and exports every project; your original conversion remains available under the ordinary download rules.

### Does my design data leave my machine?

Files are processed on our servers and retained according to the Privacy Policy. Direct trace and Outline only do not use an external AI provider. AI redraw, Logo conversion/refinement and Sketchpad AI features send the selected content to OpenAI. Ordinary manual editor actions do not run a model.

### What is coming next?

Scan to CAD: point cloud or mesh in, editable parametric solid out as a STEP file, reconstructing sketch geometry and depths rather than producing a dumb mesh. In development now.
