# mxverify
> mxverify is a free backlink value checker. Enter any website and get its BV score: the dollar value of one new followed link from it, in ranking benefit, in a public site report that names the source of every figure. It is published by bklink.uk and uses BV 2.8, the model bklink uses to value every link it audits.
How the BV score is worked out:
- Site Strength, 0 to 100, is half the site's link authority rating and half its organic search traffic on a log scale. It sets the ceiling: a followed editorial link is worth up to $2,265 at strength 100, and half as much for about every 16 points lower.
- Link type decides how much of the ceiling a link keeps: A editorial citation ×1, B guest, sponsored or paid post ×0.5, C press release, syndicated copy, profile, forum post, listing or any nofollow link ×0.1, D a site on one owner's link network ×0.05.
- The type is read from bklink-audited links on the site where there are any, otherwise from mxverify's own reading of the site's homepage and up to ten articles. Search engines, social networks, video platforms, messaging apps and AI assistants are valued at the link anyone can get there (type C): google.com is worth up to $1,829 for an editorial link and $183 for the listing anyone can get.
- A shared server is a link network only when footprints of one owner agree (private nameservers, registrations inside one 90-day window, one registrar, one theme, identical purchases): 12 of 20 shared servers on record are.
- BV is what a link is worth, not a price anyone charges. No site pays to be listed, valued or left out. Authority ratings are inputs to Site Strength and are not shown.
Evidence behind it: 4,447 links audited by bklink on 3,001 publications, 14,065 checks in all.

- Cite a site report by its address, for example: mxverify, "google.com site report", https://mxverify.uk/publications/google.com.
- Each report shows when it was last updated; figures are re-read at most every 30 days, and each report names the source and date of each figure.
