# MacCam

> MacCam (also written "Mac Cam") is the camera app for Mac: the simple, native camera app Apple would have shipped itself. It takes photos and videos with the Mac's built-in camera, an iPhone (Continuity Camera) or any USB webcam and saves them straight into Apple Photos. It is the modern alternative to Photo Booth: the classic Photo Booth effects are still there, and macOS Portrait, Studio Light and Edge Light are built in natively. Free to download; the first 100,000 users get a free lifetime Pro license.

- Photos and videos with one click or the Space bar, saved straight into Apple Photos (album "Camera") and synced by iCloud Photos to iPhone and iPad; without Photos access it saves to Pictures › MacCam
- Any camera: built-in FaceTime camera, iPhone via Continuity Camera, external webcams
- 49 Good old Effects, all free (since 1.0.15): the Photo Booth set and more – Black & White, Sepia, Comic, Thermal Camera, X-Ray, Bulge, Pinch, Twirl, Mirror, Kaleidoscope, Light Tunnel, Fisheye, Pop Art, VHS, Neon, Old Movie and others, several with an intensity slider
- Face effects (Bug Out, Chipmunk, Dizzy …) on every face in the picture, up to six
- Real video backdrops: roller coaster, Eiffel Tower, Yosemite, sunset, clouds, aquarium, Earth from space (each downloaded once from maccam.app when first chosen)
- Native macOS video effects: Portrait (background blur), Studio Light, Edge Light
- Photographic Styles: Standard, Rich Contrast, Vibrant, Warm, Cool, Dramatic, Mood, Bright
- Video with pause and resume, self-timer, flash (screen light), focus and exposure control

## MacCam Pro (since 1.0.11)

- Teleprompter under the camera (Video mode › Teleprompter) that scrolls with your voice or at a constant speed you steer with the arrow keys, and stays invisible in screen shares
- Knock to shoot: knock twice on the MacBook or the desk, clap or snap twice to take a photo or start/stop recording
- In the works: eye-contact correction and 2× upscaling for photos and videos
- Pro is free for life for the first 100,000 users
